Whether you’re looking for the latest trends or timeless style which can easily be updated, I have a gorgeous selection of tween girl rooms to showcase.
It’s been almost a year since my last post on creating the perfect tween girl room, and I finally have an excuse to get designing! We are days away from moving into our new home and Elsie will be needing a major style infusion to her very gray bare bedroom.

We’re a way off an official room reveal but I would love to share some of the gorgeous ideas and decor I have been saving for inspiration. The move has been keeping me busy and it’s been far too long since my last post, so I’m throwing myself straight into the good stuff… enjoy!
Tween Girl Room Feature Walls

My daughter Elsie is upgrading to a full sized bed centered in the room, leaving the perfect opportunity for a feature wall behind the headboard. This more formal layout immediately feels more grown up, while the feature wall allows for some fun design and color. We wouldn’t want to be too grown up after all.
There are a few different ideas I’m throwing about for her feature wall, from painting to a peel & stick finish, to classic wallpaper…

A plank wall like the one above can easily create a trending feature wall that can last through the ages.
My favorite picks for tween girl room feature wall treatments:
Awesome Tween Girl Beds
When Elsie upgraded from her crib when she was 2yrs-old she went into an adorable twin bed, painted white with a heart cut out at the headboard. Although she could stay in this bed longer, her mattress is shot and I don’t want to invest in a custom UK sized mattress. So… she’s getting an upgrade and she’s pretty excited about it!

I absolutely love the Jenny Lind style beds, especially in bolder colors such as coral or turquoise. Many of these traditional bed frames are metal, but since I wrote my post about how to Feng Shui your kid’s room I feel sure I want a wooden framed bed. The coral bed featured below is actually a wooden framed Jenny Lind from Crate and Barrel which I love!
Trending Chairs for a Tween Girls Room
Even if you opt for a simple, low key tween girl room design, it can be transformed by a cool cosy chair. In my tween days, an oversized bean bag was as awesome as it got, but today there are so many choices!

I said many times here on the blog that I love the look of a hanging chair. They’re probably not the easiest to clamber into and then there is the structural concerns,. but hey… the price you pay for trending design! I love anything plush and fluffy, almost as much as I love the natural rattan. These guys above have nailed it with both!
Desks for Tween Girls’ Rooms
Elsie’s about to start 4th Grade and homework is ramping up! As an ex-teacher and parent of three I can safely say homework is not my friend. Ugh… but it seems here to stay and I want Elsie to start taking more responsibility for it. I believe (and hope) creating a work space of her own will help her take it more seriously!

The beautiful design shown above from Actual Architecture shows that however small your space is you can make it work. And referring back to feature walls… I am crazy for this dot print ombre! Elsie has demanded hot pink sheets so I’m feeling inspired!

If you don’t want to create a built in workstation there are some gorgeous ones one the market:
Trending Accent Decor
My favorite tween girl rooms are those that combine young and fun decor and colors with grown up designs that will last into adulthood. If your daughter chooses cutesy colorful bedding, complete the look with a grown up chandelier or mirror. If your decide to go classic with the wall color and bedding, have fun with some colorful young wall art which can be switched out easily in years to come.

There are endless possibilities but here are my current faves:
I am excited to be getting back into some kids room designs! it’s been tough while we move house because I haven’t been able to tinker. With a brand new home to play with I look forward to looks more decor posts arriving in the near future!
An amazing selection of ideas for the “tween”. I really liked the desk ideas, especially the desk/bunk bed combo.
