I’ve been decluttering the playroom this week, organizing and purging toys the kids no longer play with. But with the purge comes the urge to splurge, and I’ve been browsing fun kids’ indoor play tents. My list does include cardboard playhouses as well as tents. There are some awesome ones out there!

We’ve had two good years of fun with our little IKEA play tent and tunnel. Amazing value but eventually the tunnel collapsed and Elsie at 8yrs-old really is too big to fit. I’m going to try and wait until Christmas to surprise them with a tent but I’ve definitely got the shopping bug. To help delay my purchase I’ve put together this post with my absolute favorite kids’ indoor play tents.
Top 10 Kids’ Indoor Play Tents & Cardboard PlayHouses
For the Space Cadet
Who has a kid that wants to be an astronaut? Whether your little one is loving this year’s American Girl doll (isn’t Luciana the best?!) or they are Star Wars mad, everyone will have fun with this space capsule from The Grommet.
For the Vacationer
My problem with a lot of playhouses is they are not big enough. I have three kids and they all want to go inside! I spotted this playhouse in store at Crate & Barrel at the weekend and my kids fell in love with it. Question is… can I wait until Christmas to get one??
For the Hippy Chick
If neutral is more your thing, how about this tepee tent from Love Tree. It has more height and space that your regular triangular tepee and the bunting details gives it that boho feel. It comes with a carry bag too!
For the Ice Cream Entrepreneur
This ice cream stand from Tiny Land has some adorable details. Just look at the smile on this kid’s face… I’m sold!
For the Engineer
While we’re in the realm of play ‘stand’ over playhouse, I must include this adorable farmer’s market stand from Antsy Pants. Sold online at Target, the Antsy Pants range comes as a kit of poles which make a number of different shapes. You buy the covers separately so you can have as many different versions of your playhouse as you like! Genius!
For the Artist
This cardboard playhouse by Easy Playhouse is compact but I love that kids get to decorate it. Elsie would have a wild time customizing this playhouse, such a great idea.
For the Street Food Fanatic
Another awesome cardboard playhouse… This Melissa & Doug food truck playhouse is so much fun. The Twins are seriously into their toy kitchen at the moment and I know they would be serving up some mean burgers from this truck!
For the Calm & Quiet
I love the quality in Pottery Barn Kids are they are always so tasteful with their style. If you want to keep it clean and simple, this play tent from Pottery Barn Kids is perfect for the little ones.
For the Little Ones
While we’re on simple, here’s another one from Target. This adorable panda bear play tent from Pillowfort would look cute in any kids’ room!
For the Fantasy Fairy
Last but not least… this fairy themed play tent from Asweets looks great if you have multiple kids. It seems to have good height and I love its fun design without being over the top with gaudy colors.
Whether you want traditional simple kids’ indoor play tents or a customizable color-in playhouse, I hope there is something from the list which floats your boat. For me, size is a big factor so my favorites are the holiday caravan and the fairy themed dome… which one is your favorite?

Where can I purchase that adorable black/white striped teepee?
Hi Charlene! This article is a couple years old and it looks like Pottery Barn has discontinued the striped tent. Their replacement is still cute but is plain in color: https://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/cafe-play-tent/?pkey=s~play%20tent~71
