The Twins have been my tasting panel for a while now and have been keeping me on my toes with baby/toddler friendly recipes. I’ve been introducing them to some meats lately and decided to keep things moist and naturally sweet with these delicious pork and apple burgers. And my new herb to tickle their taste buds is tarragon… one of my personal favorites.
At some point I will have to face teaching my boys to use a spoon, but if they’re anything like my daughter they will be determined to pick up whatever I serve them for some time. So for now I’m keeping things tidy and continue to come up with recipes they will enjoy that introduce new flavors, just like these juicy pork and apple burgers.
Although the twins are getting the hang of chewing (they have eight teeth now!), many meats are still hard work. Minced meat is not only easy to chew but is easy to mix in with other ingredients to make a moist patty.
- 1 lb minced pork
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 sweet apple, grated
- ½ onion, grated
- 1 egg, beaten
- ½ tsp dried tarragon
- pinch of salt
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Mix all the ingredients in a bowl with your hands.
- Shape the mix into patties and place on a lined baking tray.
- Bake for 20 minutes, turning at half time.
If you like the look of the burgers you may like to try one of my other recipes from the Baby Finger Food Series:
Spicy Vegetable Croquettes
Baked Baby Falafel
Minty Pea Risotto Cakes
And just one more of the boys because they are too cute!
This is super helpful stuff….particularly for those with tiny kids! I could never find any kind of meat product for my kids when they were toddlers that was at all palatable. And now, they resist the idea of meat (a *horrible* thing to my husband and me – total carnivores).
I am going to give this a whirl and see if I can turn this whole meat thing around! Thank you. 🙂

Good luck and thanks for reading 🙂
Good morning Katherine, the title of your post did make me chuckle. It could probably be classed as an insult, not to Trump though… Time will tell!
Your pork apple burgers sound so tasty, and the days of keeping baby food bland are well and truly over. The more tastes children are introduced to whilst young the wider their taste preferences (or so I believe)… And food does taste so much better when eaten with fingers!
Thank you for linking up to the #MMBC.

Love the gif. This series is good. I babyles my son and it’s amazing what he can eat. I didn’t really make much for him specially though and he tends to just eat what we eat which is fab! Thanks for linking up to #familyfun
Ha yep I think that gif speaks for many! Those burgers look great I’d certainly like to try them with my two, I love giving them home cooked food l. Thanks for sharing at #familyfun xx
