Hi Mercy! Identical twins sometimes share a placenta, sometimes they don’t, it depends how far along the egg splits into two. Either way they are identical. Fraternal twins come from two eggs and never share a placenta unless two placentas fuse together (which can happen). Twins cannot be both fraternal and identical because it comes down to whether they started as one or two eggs, it is not dependent on anything to do with the placenta. Hope that helps!
Can they be fraternal and identical when sharing a separate placenta. Just curious
